Deevo very nearly
became a sad statistic. His previous owner was unable to provide
him with a secured play area, making him very unpopular with the
neighbors. After being shot in the back by a neighbor, he was
surrendered to the SPCA. Unfortunately, they are unwilling to
place any dog resembling a Pitbull and would have put him down
within 48 hours, had I not sent the owner back to reclaim him.
Our intention was to find him a suitable home. It was way easier
than we had initially expected. He quickly endeared himself to
Jen with his sweet temperament and obedience. For some time, she
had been wanting a male APBT and he just fell into our laps. He
was already 18 months of age… most of the puppy days were
thankfully already over. After some communication with Deevo’s
breeder, Crawford Kennels of Kentucky, his history and lineage
were confirmed. This boy is game bred from Watchdog and other
prominent lines and it shows. Prey drive just drips from his pores.
He is pictured here flushing birds from our hedge and giving chase.
Our own energizer bunny chaser is a handful some days, but we
are very happy to have him in our pack. 2006 will see Deevo begin
his competitive career and we are preparing him for the show ring
and the protection sports trial field.
